The Philippine International Mathematical Olympiad (PhIMO) is the most sophisticated international mathematics competition among Kindergarten to Grade 12 students.

PhIMO is designed to honor the best learners in the world in mathematical problem-solving through a friendly competition and foster cultural exchange among countries that participate therein.

THE PHIMO AIMS TO:
  1. Gather young mathematically-gifted students all over the world to engage in a friendly international mathematics competition;
  2. Challenge young mathematicians to strive for excellence in mathematics; and
  3. Honor and reward mathematical talents to serve as models of global citizens.

We have candidates from Philippines, Thailand, Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Iran, Cambodia, Russia & Taiwan.

PhIMO competition problems are based on the international curriculum standards in

  • Measurements
  • Patterns and Algebra
  • Geometry
  • Probability and Statistics

What to prepare for online competition?

What to prepare for online exam?

Exams are monitored through a camera system integrated into the exam platform. Students must use a device with an active, functioning camera and mic with stable internet connectivity throughout the exam. Meanwhile, the exam portal will also record the candidate screen activities for exam security during the exam. So you have to make sure your device, browser, internet connection, camera and screen sharing meet the technical requirements and are properly set up for a smooth and uninterrupted exam experience.

Fee: RM90 per candidate

Category: Kindergartens, Year 1 to Year 13 (Primary 1 to A-Levels/STPM)

Language Of Paper: English, Chinese & Malay (within the same question)

Exam Format: Online Competition

System will open from 10am – 9pm on competition days. Need to submit answers before 9pm.

Time allowed to answer questions: 90 minutes (The time spent to answer questions will not affect your score)

Total Number Of Questions: 25 questions

PART ① (Questions 1 to 10):
There are 10 multiple-choice questions. Each question carries 2 marks.

PART ② (Questions 11 to 25):
There are 15 open-ended questions.

Questions 11 to 20, each carries 3 marks.
Questions 21 to 25, each carries 5 marks.

** Marks are awarded for correct answers only.
** There is no penalty for incorrect answers.

 

AWARDS

Students who won Gold/Silver/Bronze are qualified to enter PhIMO International round. Further details, please refer to PhIMO Final Round tab.

MEDALS AND PAPER CERTIFICATES / E-CERTIFICATES

Students who won Gold/Silver/Bronze will received medal and paper certificate.

Merit/Participation will received paper certificate.

** Candidates who are absent or did not join the exam because of any reason will not receive any certificate.

PhIMO Final Round 2026

Students who won Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals in the PhIMO 2026 Heat Round will be invited to join Final Round. Participation in the International Round is voluntary in nature. Details will be announced together with Heat Round result.

There are 2 options available.

Student can join PhIMO Final Round 2026 either

Face to face at Clark, Pampanga Philippine from 4th September 2026 to 7th September 2026.

or

Online competition at home on 5th September 2026, morning. Actual time to be confirmed.

Details will send to candidates who are qualifies. Please refer to registration form when registration is open.
