Fermat Mathematical Olympiad (FMO)
Fermat Mathematical Olympiad (FMO) is an annual competition organized and hosted by Fermat Education, an authorized Vietnamese organization responsible for many international Olympiad competitions. FMO serves as an academic playground for students with passion for Mathematics ranging from Grade 1 to Grade 12 students.
THE FMO AIMS TO:
help students develop their mathematical skills, creative thinking, and ability to apply knowledge to real-life and global problems.
presents familiar concepts in a practical manner, aligned with the general curriculum at each level.
provides students with interesting experiences and helps them see the relevance of mathematics in everyday life.
We have candidates from Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Uzbekistan & United Kingdom.
FMO competition problems are based on the international curriculum standards in

& Number theory - Patterns and Algebra
- Geometry
- Statistics
- Logical thinking

FMO 2026 National Round Important Info
Fee is RM135.00 per candidate
Category: Grade 1 to Grade 12 (Primary 1 to A-Levels/STPM)
** All students in the senior secondary (grade 10 – grade 12) will do the same exam paper and be ranked as a whole.
Language Of Paper: English, Chinese & Malay (within the same question)
Time allowed to answer questions:
Primary students: 75 minutes
Secondary students: 90 minutes
Exam structure
** Marks are awarded for correct answers only.
** There is no penalty for incorrect answers.
System will open from 10am – 9pm on competition days. Need to submit answers before 9pm.
AWARDS
Students who won Gold/Silver/Bronze are qualified to enter FMO Final round. Further details, please refer to FMO Final Round tab.

What to prepare for online exam?
Exams are monitored through a camera system integrated into the exam platform. Students must use a device with an active, functioning camera and mic with stable internet connectivity throughout the exam. Meanwhile, the exam portal will also record the candidate screen activities for exam security during the exam. So you have to make sure your device, browser, internet connection, camera and screen sharing meet the technical requirements and are properly set up for a smooth and uninterrupted exam experience.
Please note that we are unable to provide support for the following issues, as they are beyond our control:
- If the questions load slowly on the any student’s screen
- If a student experiences issues with the camera or screen sharing
- If a student receives a tab issue warning due to refreshing the page
- And similar individual user-related issues
In such cases, we do not have any administrative control or technical ability to intervene, as these are typically temporary, user-side problems. When we log into the student’s account and exam, in 99.9% of cases, we do not encounter any issues and see that the exam is ongoing. Therefore, students should quickly check their technical setup, refresh the page if necessary, and continue the exam as soon as possible.
In which situations can we provide support and perform checks?
- If the exam icon shows missed or participated even though the exam time has not yet started
- If a student has forgotten their password.
- If the exam portal servers do not respond while attempting to connect to the exam portal (If it is a SERVER ERROR screen)
- If a qualified student’s exam icon do not appear in the exam portal
In such cases, our ADMIN TEAM and IT TEAM can be directly involved in the process, identify the issue, and provide an appropriate solution.

FMO Final Round 2026-2027
Students who are eligible to compete for the Final Rounds are those who garnered Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals in the FMO 2026 National Round. Participation in the Final Round is voluntary in nature. Registration fee and details will be announced together with National Round result.
FMO Final Round 2027 will be held from 15th January 2026 to 17th January 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
