Mathematics without Borders International Tournament (MWBIT) is the oldest mathematics competition in European history. MWB, where statistics rank European countries, results are relevant. All MWB exam questions are designed by Bulgaria. The exam questions are rigorous and comply with the mathematics curriculum rules of European schools, allowing participating students to have different and diverse experiences.

Since 2013, Bulgaria has been the host of Mathematics Without Borders International Tournament for students aged 7 to 18. During those 11 years, the tournament has become one of the biggest contests in Bulgaria, as well as worldwide, in terms of participant numbers and number of participating countries from 5 continents.

We kindly invite you to join the 13th edition of the tournament during the 2026/2027 academic year as Malaysia team. Furthermore, we will invite candidates with excellent result to join next OMC competition.

MWB Autumn 2025/2026 Round Competition Result:

MWB 2026/2027 Qualification Round is an online competition.

You can join at home or any convenient venue.

You need a computer equipped with functioning mic and camera with fast & stable internet connection.

Important Info

There are total 2 options for Qualification Round.

1st Option: Exam Date: 31-10-2026, Saturday

Registration Fee: Fee is RM90.00 per candidate

Category: Candidate born in Year 2009 to Year 2019

Language Of Paper: English as main + Malay translation + Chinese translation (within the same question)

If there is any inconsistency between the English version of a question and other language versions, the English version shall prevail.

Total Number Of Questions: 20

Answer Format: Open answer (short answer questions)

Time allowed to answer questions: 60 minutes

In case of an equal number of points, the higher ranked candidate will be the one who has spent less time solving the problems.

System will open from 10am – 9pm on exam day. Need to submit answers before 9pm.

Scoring Criteria

Each correct answer gets 2 points.

If there is more than one answer and at least half of the answers are correct, or if, together with the correct answer, there is also a wrong answer, you will get 1 point.

If these is a wrong or missing answer, you will get 0 points.

Candidates who won Gold, Silver and Bronze are qualified to join Final round at Nessebar, Bulgaria with registration fee during 2nd July – 6th July 2027.

What to prepare for online exam?

Exams are monitored through a camera system integrated into the exam platform. Students must use a device with an active, functioning camera and mic with stable internet connectivity throughout the exam. Meanwhile, the exam portal will also record the candidate screen activities for exam security during the exam. So you have to make sure your device, browser, internet connection, camera and screen sharing meet the technical requirements and are properly set up for a smooth and uninterrupted exam experience.

Please note that we are unable to provide support for the following issues, as they are beyond our control:

If the questions load slowly on the any student’s screen
If a student experiences issues with the camera or screen sharing
If a student receives a tab issue warning due to refreshing the page
And similar individual user-related issues

In such cases, we do not have any administrative control or technical ability to intervene, as these are typically temporary, user-side problems. When we log into the student’s account and exam, in 99.9% of cases, we do not encounter any issues and see that the exam is ongoing. Therefore, students should quickly check their technical setup, refresh the page if necessary, and continue the exam as soon as possible.

In which situations can we provide support and perform checks?

If the exam icon shows missed or participated even though the exam time has not yet started
If a student has forgotten their password.
If the exam portal servers do not respond while attempting to connect to the exam portal (If it is a SERVER ERROR screen)
If a qualified student’s exam icon do not appear in the exam portal

In such cases, our ADMIN TEAM and IT TEAM can be directly involved in the process, identify the issue, and provide an appropriate solution.

Exam Rules

Please take note:

There is no replacement exam under any circumstances of absentee.
No fee will be refund.
No reschedule of exam.
Please join the exam on the date and time allowed only.
The organizing committee reserved the final decision-making rights on all disputes.

MWB Final Round 2027

Students who are eligible to compete for the International/Final Rounds are those who garnered Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals in the 1st & 2nd Qualification Round of 2026/2027. Participation in the International Round is voluntary in nature. Registration fee and details will be announced together with after announcement of 2nd Qualification Round 2026/2027 result on February 2027.
